I was commissioned to create shadow puppets for a York Drama production of SENZA LUCE, a musical by Brian Hill and Neil Bartram. Brian primarily wanted to use shadow puppetry to show the background lore of the fictional town of Senza Luce. Since the town is set in the dark, deep inside a mountain crevice, I thought it would be interesting to rig shadow puppets inside of the gas lanterns that the townsfolk canonically use. I illustrated story panels and rigged them onto 2 lanterns.

However, in order to cast shadows from inside the lantern, I had to build a custom circuit with a pinspot LED and rotatable base.
